My Heart is Art: The Play

(PrettyUgly Poetry on stage)

My Heart is Art: The Play

A story of pain, resilience, and redemption, My Heart is Art: The Play brings to life the raw and emotional journey found in PrettyUgly Poetry. Through powerful storytelling, movement, and artistic expression, this production follows one woman’s descent into the darkness of domestic violence, substance abuse, and trauma—and her courageous fight to reclaim her voice.

As she pieces herself back together, she discovers the transformative power of creative healing—using poetry, art, and self-expression to rise from the ashes of her past. This play is more than a performance; it’s a testament to survival, a mirror for those who have suffered, and a light for those still searching for their way to discovering their inner soul. Prepare to witness a story of struggle, recovery, and resilience.

Feeling our way through Clay

My Story

For years, I lived in silence. Years of abuse led to a time of feeling unseen, unheard, and unworthy. I carried the weight of depression, loneliness and trauma—each day a battle between survival and surrender. The world around me moved, but I felt stuck, trapped in a cycle that seemed impossible to break. But pain has a way of becoming a teacher. In the depths of my suffering, I found something unexpected—ART. In poetry, I found my voice. In movement, I found freedom. In storytelling, I found healing. Recovery wasn’t immediate, nor was it easy. It was a process of unraveling and rebuilding, of unlearning shame and rediscovering strength. My journey from darkness to light became more than just my own—it became my mission. I turned my pain into purpose, creating a foundation of workshops designed to uplift, empower, and heal women and children who, like me, have known suffering but seek transformation. Now, I stand victorious. I serve my community as a guide, a mentor, a storyteller, a creative healer. My past no longer defines me—it fuels me. Through my work, I create spaces where others can reclaim their voices, embrace their truth, and find the light within themselves.
